The Center for the Performing Artist treats physical and mental issues that can disrupt artistic practice for performing artists, including singers, musicians and dancers, who are particularly vulnerable to ailments and injuries due to the physical demands of their profession. Each artist is matched to a dedicated care coordinator who helps them find the right specialists to treat voice or musculoskeletal injuries, pulmonary conditions or movement disorders. Performers from institutions including the Metropolitan Opera and Juilliard School have all worked with the center.
