The Cardiovascular Research Institute conducts basic and translational research to improve heart health worldwide. The institute integrates its research program with the robust work of the departments of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery so that physicians and scientists can seamlessly move from the bench to the bedside. Research has included novel approaches of diagnosing, preventing and treating conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and hypertension. Investigators use cutting-edge scientific approaches, including precision medicine and stem cell research, and collaborate with scientists and engineers on the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island to mine and analyze data from genome sequencing and patient medical devices, with the goal of developing more effective treatments.
