It is my great pleasure to write to you as Interim Dean and welcome you back from the holidays. I thank Dr. Choi again for his leadership over the past several years, and I look forward to sustaining and building upon the momentum we have around our core missions to care, discover, and teach. I am confident 2023 will be another exceptional year for us.
Our reputation is among our greatest assets; we have earned such trust and respect as an institution that generous donors are investing in us, and leading organizations are partnering with us. Our We’re Changing Medicine campaign fundraising total is projected to be over $980M through the end of December 2022, and the gift from Andrew and Ann R. Tisch last month is a recent and powerful example of how our donors can help advance cross-campus collaborations. The opportunities that lie ahead for Weill Cornell Medicine should motivate and excite us all.
I am deeply committed to providing WCM stability, continuity, and energized direction through this transition, and I promise you my full attention and dedication as Interim Dean.
I have had the pleasure of meeting with many people across WCM since mid-November, and I continue to be impressed by and proud of the caliber of leaders we have across the institution. Weill Cornell Medicine is in a remarkable position of strength with these talented individuals at the helm.
It is my priority to cultivate and deepen relationships, and build upon the cultural fabric of our institution, where everyone feels a sense of purpose in our work and a sense of belonging in our interactions.
Thank you all for your invaluable commitment to our institution.
Sincerely,
Francis Lee, MD, PhD
