Dear WCM community,
Many of you reached out with concern for our Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar campus following yesterday’s headlines of a missile attack against a US military base.
We have been in close contact with Dean Javaid Sheikh over the last 24 hours and can share the following:
- All members of the WCM-Q community are accounted for and unharmed.
- The campus did not sustain any damage.
- The WCM-Q campus is temporarily closed, but will reopen for regular operations on Wednesday, June 25.
- To the best of our knowledge, we do not currently have any visitors from the NYC or Ithaca campuses to the Qatar campus.
We will both continue to be in touch with Dean Sheikh and members of his administration regularly to provide any and all support needed.
Our campus in Doha is a world-class international medical school, and we are deeply proud of all the work accomplished there to transform patient care, biomedical research, and the quality of life in the region and around the world. Our hearts are with the many talented WCM-Q faculty, staff, and students during this uncertain time.
Sincerely,
