Dear Weill Cornell Medicine community,
Thanksgiving is our holiday for showing gratitude, though the practice is healthy year-round.
For decades I have been lifted by the gratitude of patients, especially kind acknowledgements that their care team helped pull them through a difficult time.
Saving lives, fostering futures, and caring with compassion -- at Weill Cornell Medicine we do this collectively every day.
Giving thanks can feed the spirit and clear the mind. It’s a traditional practice that doesn’t require innovative tools. Yet it helps us thrive.
This year I want to thank our entire community for pulling together through a difficult time – a challenging year for science and academic medicine.
Thank you for your collaboration, your strength and your resilience.
Thank you for tirelessly contributing to and sustaining our missions to care, to discover and to teach. No matter what role you have, know that I am truly grateful for your selflessness, your service, and your star performances.
The WCM community is full of champions who give to others.
To the families and friends who support you and help you to be who you are in our community, I also offer my personal gratitude.
During this Thanksgiving I hope each of you enjoys some time for yourself. This week in our hallways and in your homes, I hope you feel the warmth of kindness that makes this day one of my favorite holidays.
With appreciation,
Robert A. Harrington, M.D.
