The Colon and Rectal Surgery Division detects, diagnoses and treats disorders affecting the lower gastrointestinal tract, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticular diseases, and colon and rectal cancer. Colorectal surgeons use minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical techniques to minimize postoperative pain, leave less noticeable scars and shorten patients’ hospital stays. The division also runs diagnostic tests, including colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy, and offers specialized anorectal surgeries, such as Botox injections for fissures and hemorrhoid banding.
