Kristine (Tina) Shays Lupi, MSW
After receiving my B.S. in Social Work from N.Y.U., I worked in medical social work, including five years at Cancer Care Inc.. I continue to have an interest in working with patients who have chronic and life-threatening illness.
During my Masters program I worked in inpatient psychiatry and later took a job in a neighborhood mental health clinic in Brooklyn doing therapy and supervising students for several years. I began my analytic training during this period.
I opened my private practice in 1976 primarily working with adults in long term treatment. My interest has subsequently broadened to include many aspects of work with couples, parents and children. I consult to staff in a daycare center where I also run groups for parents.
My teaching experience includes Case Seminars and Infancy/ Early Development at several training institutes in NYC.
My interest in the early years of development led me to pursue a doctorate in Social Work where I am currently completing my dissertation. My area of research is Mother-Infant Dyadic Interaction.
Currently, I am also co-leading a group at Cornell for pregnant women who struggle with issues around the need for psychotropic medication. I have been running parent-infant-toddler groups for a number of years.
