Carol Bloom, MSW

Carol Bloom is co-founder, (1981), Faculty and Supervisor of The Women’s Therapy Centre Institute. The Institute offers innovative clinical training based on contemporary relational, psychoanalytic theory integrated with an understanding that ones social location (gender,class,race,ethnicity,age) contributes to the psychic construction of the individual. Along with colleagues at the Institute, Carol Bloom developed a feminist-relational model for the treatment of eating and body Image issues. In private practice in New York City since 1976 with individuals (teen-agers and up) and couples. She lectures, trains and supervises for both professionals and the community.

Specialize in the treatment of Eating and Body Image problems for women and men and Women’s Psychology and Development. Clinical training and supervision for general psychodynamic psychotherapy and eating and body image issues. Provide in-depth training and consultation to hospitals, institutes, schools and the public on Women’s Issues and Eating Problems.

Areas of Research

Mothers and daughters and the transmission of eating and body issues, anti-deprivation/ anti-diet approach to feeding oneself.
