Stem/Progenitor Cells in the Vascular System

Fluorescence image of embryonic stem cells differentiated into endothelial cells.
Scientists in the center are focused on the study of how stem cells differentiate into vascular endothelial cells (vasculogenesis) and how endothelial cells develop into capillaries by sprouting (angiogenesis). This research has important implication to regererative biology as well as cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
