Germline stem cells in the postnatal ovary
The conventional dogma that oocytes are formed once and for all time before birth has recently been challenged. We are studying gene expression and experimental transplantation to verify the theory which has profound implications for reproductive aging and menopause as well as potential technologies for generating oocytes de novo for clinical treatment and nuclear transfer.
