Dr. Ruba Deeb received her BSc in Chemistry in 1998 from Walla Walla College in Washington, and her PhD in Biochemistry in 1993 from Portland State University in Oregon. Her graduate studies employed biophysical techniques to characterize processes involved in folding and assembly of hemoproteins. She performed postdoctoral studies in the Department of Biochemistry at Cornell University Medical College in New York where she used thermodynamic approaches to elucidate the structural specificity of cysteine-rich neurophysin and how ligand peptides influenced its folding process. After her post-doctoral studies, she was recruited into the Cornell Center of Vascular Biology in 1998. Her research focuses on the interplay between nitric oxide and eicosanoid pathways in vascular disease.
