Global Health
I am the director of the U.S. training program for the Brazil site of the Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholars Program. I participate in the selection of students, as well as the design and analysis of their clinical research projects. These projects focus on HTLV-I and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis, under the mentorship of Dr. Edgar Carvalho of the Federal University of Bahia, or leptospirosis under the mentorship of Dr. Albert Ko of Fiocruz. Both research programs are based in Salvador, Bahia, which I visit to teach clinical research methodology. I have also helped mentor some Infectious Disease fellows who have done research in Brazil and would be interested in working with interested students.
