Biography
Dr. Joseph M. Lane received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his residency training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lane is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Assistant Dean, Medical Students (Hospital for Special Surgery) at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. At the Hospital for Special Surgery, he is Medical Director of the Osteoporosis Center, Chief of the Metabolic Bone Disease Service, and Associate Director of the Trauma Service. He has served as Chairman for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Oversight Panel on Womens Health, and was also a member of the AAOS Council on Research, is a member of the Scientific Board for the Pagets Disease Foundation. He was President of the Orthopaedic Research Society and Musculoskeletal Tumor Society. He serves as a reviewer of several journals including Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, and Spine. He has published over 300 articles and chapters. He has served as member and chairman of several NIH study sections.
Dr. Lanes clinical interests include Orthopaedic Surgery, Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors, Osteoporosis, Pagets Disease, Adult Spine and Hip Trauma, Non-Unions, and Spinal Surgery.
