Dr. Ina Cholst graduated from Swarthmore College in 1973 (with honors) and from NYU School of Medicine in 1977. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale in 1981 and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Columbia in 1983. She is board certified in both specialties.

Dr. Cholst brings more than 30 years of experience to the care of her patients. Her areas of interest include the care of infertile couples, with a particular interest in medical, psychological, and ethical issues of egg donation. She is skilled in laparoscopic hysterectomy, a technique that allows hysterectomy with short recuperation time and almost no scars. She is interested in menopause and in adolescent gynecology and she feels strongly about providing abortion services to those who need them.

Dr. Cholst is a proud of being a full time faculty member at Weill Cornell Medical College since 1983. Her husband, Ira Goldberg, is professor of medicine and chief of the division of preventive medicine and nutrition at Columbia. They live on the Upper West Side where they have raised two children. In Dr. Cholst's spare time, she bicycles, skis, reads and enjoys good conversation.
