This study aims to compare the effects of different vendor-based electronic prescribing systems on ambulatory medication safety in several settings, including rural and underserved areas. Medication safety among recent adopters (who adopted electronic prescribing <6 months ago) will also be compared to experienced users (who have been using electronic prescribing for > 1 year).
Electronic Prescribing and Electronic Transmission of Discharge Medication Lists to Improve Ambulatory Medication Safety Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

This study aims to measure the effects of transitioning from a homegrown to vendor based electronic prescribing system in the ambulatory setting on medication errors and human-computer interactions. This study also aims to evaluate the impact of electronic transmission of medication lists at discharge from the hospital to the ambulatory setting on medication discrepancies at the first ambulatory visit following discharge and adverse drug events within 30 days post-discharge.
