Our laboratory conducts research on the molecular characterization of immunodeficiency related non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, primarily those associated with Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV), and supplemental work with Epstein-Barr virus infection, many of which present following solid organ transplants. We are currently investigating potential inhibitors for viral oncoproteins and the mechanisms of viral transformation. We have developed transgenic mouse models for these infections, and are working towards developing gene expression profiling of comparative lymphomas in fixed archival tissues. We work collaboratively with groups in Uganda and Nigeria in the acquisition of new patient samples. Additionally, we collaborate with labs in India and Brazil for both sample collection and supporting laboratory technique development and training. I currently am also a part of the AIDS Malignancies consortium, in charge of the pathology unit with clinical trials operating in Africa and Brazil. We welcome students as researchers in our lab both over the summer, and as a pathology/laboratory rotation.
