Biography
Dr. Lamon plays an active role in both research and administration at Weill Cornell Medical College. As the Assistant Dean of Research Development and Outreach, Dr. Lamon assists faculty members successfully identify and compete for non-traditional extramural research funding. This is accomplished, in part, by identifying and disseminating funding information, working with faculty to develop and implement strategies that increase investigator competitiveness, providing proposal development support, creating and fostering relationships with biomedical research funding institutions, and acting as a liaison to both research and administrative departments within the medical college.
Dr. Lamon is also the Director of Medical Student Research and is responsible for those activities related to biomedical research conducted by Weill Cornell medical students. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating the Advance Biomedical Sciences (ABS) experience, assisting in the placement of students in research laboratories, identifying and obtaining funding mechanisms for student research, maintaining website for research related resources, organizing the annual medical student research day and acting in an advisory role to medical students.
As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Dr. Lamon conducts research within the Center of Vascular Biology. Dr. Lamon graduated from Lafayette College with a dual degree in Biology and French, and received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from New York Medical College. Following early career research in the field of hypertension (high blood pressure), he is now focused on the role of inflammation in atherogenesis and other manifestations of vascular disease.
