Dr. Bartlik graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1981 and completed a residency in Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine in 1985. In 1993, while maintaining an active private practice, she studied sex therapy with the late Helen Singer Kaplan. M.D., Ph.D, founder of the Weill Cornell Human Sexuality Program. In 2003, she joined the Weill Cornell Physicians Organization where her clinical practice concentrates on the treatment of individual and couples with relationship and sexual problems. Dr. Bartlik also treats lesbian and gay couples and performs family therapy with siblings, parents, adult children and those who are struggling with issues related to divorce. In addition, Dr. Bartlik has expertise treating adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, panic disorder, affective (mood) disorders, treatment-resistant depression, dysthymic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, gender identity disorders, paraphilias, sexual addictions, phobias and emotional problems.

In addition to her faculty appointment in Psychiatry, Dr. Bartlik holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also is a consultant to the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center at Weill Cornell and is well versed in the range of women's psychiatric issues, including premenstrual syndrome, postpartum psychiatric disorders, menopause-related issues, and problems related to sexual trauma and abuse. She utilizes a variety of treatment approaches in her practice including cognitive-behavioral therapy, sex and marital therapy, family and couples therapy, hypnotherapy, psychopharmacology, psychodynamic psychotherapy, group therapy, as well as complementary and alternative medicines.

Some of the workshops and groups that Dr. Bartlik will be offering this year include workshops for couples who want to put the passion back into their relationship, groups for men who want to become more sexually aware, groups for women who want to improve their sexual self-esteem and groups for women who have intimacy problems related to sexual abuse history.

A past-president of the Women's Medical Association, Dr. Bartlik was named one of health magazines 200 top American women physicians in 2002-3.
