Research Overview

CURRENT PROJECTS

1. Clinical outcomes of patients treated for coronary artery fistulas: This project is a retrospective review of patients who underwent either surgical or a trans-catheter based approach to occlude a coronary artery fistula. The goal of the project is to see if there is a difference in clinical outcomes of the patients depending on the approach to treatment.

2. COAST (Coarctation of the Aorta Stent Trial): This is a prospective clinical trial examining outcomes of patients who undergo a trans-catheter based approach with a stent to treat coarctation of the aorta.

3. Melody® Valve. This is a prospective clinical trial examining outcomes of patients who undergo a trans-catheter based approach with a valved stent to treat right ventricular outflow tract obstruction and/or insufficiency.

4. Edwards SAPIEN® Valve. This is a prospective clinical trial examining outcomes of patients who undergo a trans-catheter based approach with a valved stent to treat right ventricular outflow tract obstruction and/or insufficiency.

5. Single ventricle physiology in patients with Down syndrome. This project is a retrospective review of patients with Down syndrome who required cardiac surgical palliation via the single ventricle pathway. The goal of the project is to determine clinical outcomes of these patients compared to matched control patients who do not have Down syndrome.

6. Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia Repository. This is a registry collecting data and examining outcomes of patients with Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia. My part in the project is involved with the clinical management of these patients from the standpoint of coronary artery disease development.
