Research Overview
Mechanisms of Neuroprotection
My lab uses biochemical and cellular biology approaches to study neuronal cell death and the mechanism of neuroprotection. Mitochondria are important cellular organelles that regulate the life and death of the cells under stress. The mitochondria from our animal models of neuroprotection are enhanced against insults. We are interested in understanding the biochemical and molecular basis of this mitochondria mediated cell viability enhancement. We are also investigating the signaling processes leading to the cell viability enhancement, such as iNOS and Cox-2 induction.
