Dr. Gouras obtained his medical degree from Columbia University and residency training in neurology at the Harvard Medical School Longwood Program. He completed a clinical fellowship in Behavioral Neurology & Dementia at Weill Cornell Medical College.
He has been extensively involved in research on Alzheimer's disease. He received postdoctoral research training in Alzheimer's disease at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College and The Rockefeller University. Currently, he has a laboratory in the Department of Neurology & Neuroscience at Weill Cornell to uncover the basic biological mechanisms that occur within nerve cells of the brain with Alzheimer's disease pathology. The ultimate aim of his research is to develop more effective molecular based treatment strategies for this most common form of memory loss and dementia of aging.
