Over the last decade, Weill Medical College has experienced dramatic growth in the breadth and scope of its research enterprises. As part of its strategic plan and with the support of an unprecedented capital campaign, Weill Cornell's scientists have been responsible for ground-breaking advancements in areas across the scientific spectrum, including:

Recognizing the need to provide its faculty with the tools to conduct state-of-the-art research, Weill Cornell has developed 20 core facilities. These facilities – from biomedical imaging to x-ray crystallography – are managed by scientist experts. They provide centralized access to equipment used by faculty in all departments, help to reduce duplication of resources, and allow the Medical College to remain at the forefront of biomedical research. Through generous faculty support coupled with the ability to attract some of the world's greatest scientific minds, Weill Cornell is a world leader in basic and clinical research. As part of this role, the Medical College has established new programs that are in the vanguard of scientific discovery. These include The Center for Vascular Biology, which brings together expert faculty from hypertension, thrombosis, and arteriosclerosis groups; The Institute for Computational Biomedicine, which focuses on a new scientific discipline that uses mathematics, high-speed computing, and physics to investigate physiological processes; and The Ansary Center for Stem Cell Therapeutics, which helps to translate basic stem cell research into therapies that can treat diseases previously thought to be incurable.
