Medical Ethics Research
The Division of Medical Ethics is engaged in research initiatives that explore a wide range of topics both in the practice of medicine and in medical research. These include, among others, patients' needs for autonomy and support, issues surrounding reproductive and genetic biotechnologies, end of life care, public health ethics and social justice, and the developing field of neuroethics.
We have developed a chart abstraction tool for research or quality improvement work in the field of hospital end-of-live decision making. Please feel free to use this instrument. We only ask that if a publication results from its use that it is properly cited. Download the chart abstraction tool.
The Division also provides a clinical ethics consultation service as well as research ethics consultation and research subject advocacy for clinical trials throughout the medical center. Please see the Medical Ethics Division section of this website for more information on these programs.
