Educational Initiatives
Faculty in the Division of Health Policy are involved in many of the Department's educational programs, including teaching medical students, graduate students, and house staff, as well as organizing and presenting seminars for continuing medical education.
Medical School Courses
Introduction to the U.S. Healthcare System: A second-year component of the Medicine, Patients and Society curriculum, this course consists of lectures and class discussions on current topics in health care policy and includes invited speakers from the health care industry.

Public Health Clerkship in Health Care Systems: A two-week rotation for third and fourth year medical students focusing on U.S. health care policy. Lectures, seminars and field trip experiences with government, private and public managed care organizations and health plans are an important component of this clerkship. seminars focus on in-depth discussion of timely topics in health care policy.

Evidence Based Medicine: A component of Medicine, Patients, and Society I offered in the first year, this course module focuses on the principles of evidence-based medicine.

Masters Courses
Foundations of Clinical Research: This course is a core component of the Medical College's Clinical Investigation training program, which Dr. Mushlin helped establish. This course is open to faculty, fellows, and residents who are interested in developing clinical research projects as well as to students enrolled in the Clinical Investigation training program.

Economic Evaluations in Health Care: An elective course in the Clinical Investigation training program. This advanced course provides an in-depth exposure to techniques used by health economists and other health services researchers to conduct economic evaluations of health care technologies and programs. Participants learn how to critique economic evaluations using cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit approaches, and are introduced to tools they can use to apply these techniques in their own research projects.

House Staff and Faculty Education
Review Course in Epidemiology and Biostatistics: This 8-hour mini course is presented to residents and faculty at several of the Network Hospitals.

Masters in Public Health Program at the Université Quisqueya, Port-au-Prince, Haïti
Health services research and cost-effectiveness analysis: This course, part of a joint program of GHESKIO (the Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi's Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections), the Université Quisqueya, and Weill Cornell Medical College, introduces basic research methods used to evaluate health outcomes and conduct cost-effectiveness analyses. There is an emphasis on practical examples related to HIV/AIDS program implementation.
