Alison Edwards, M. Stat., Research Biostatistician, holds a Master of Statistics degree in Biostatistics from the University of Utah and a B.A. in Mathematics from Lawrence University. She joined the research team at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2008, and provides statistical support in various areas of public health. A large part of her work centers on the Health Information Technology Evaluation Collaborative (HITEC) project, where she performs the statistical analysis for studies focusing on interoperable health IT and electronic medical records, and assesses the effects of this technology on the quality and safety of both consumers and healthcare providers. Additionally, Ms. Edwards collaborates with medical professionals for studies related to diabetes, kidney transplant outcomes, and HIV/AIDS.
While at the University of Utah, Ms. Edwards worked as a Research Analyst in the Health Research Center of the Department of Internal Medicine and as a Statistician in the Department of Pediatrics, Intermountain Injury Control Research Center. She analyzed and managed data for studies on breast cancer, domestic violence, and patient safety in the emergency department. As the primary statistician for the National EMSC Data Analysis Resource Center in Utah, Ms. Edwards worked with national survey data assessing the effectiveness of the EMS system with regards to pediatric patients. Additionally, she was the Senior Data Editor for Utah’s Health: An Annual Review, Volume XIII.
