Faculty Meetings

Faculty Council: Members of the faculty council convene on the first Monday of each month to discuss pertinent departmental business matters. The charge of the council is to discuss and arrive at decisions related to departmental business including administration, teaching, research, faculty appointments and programmatic issues. An agenda and minutes are prepared for each meeting to facilitate the tracking of items and to document progress and decisions. Membership is required of all full-time Public Health faculty.

General Faculty Meeting: This meeting is open to all faculty with an appointment in the Department of Public Health. This is a quarterly forum for the larger Public Health community during which the entire faculty of the department will discuss and plan initiatives. The first General Faculty meeting of the academic year is always reserved for the Chairman's "State of the Department" address.

Public Health Grand Rounds: The Department Grand Rounds are held the third Monday of the month. The meetings are for Public Health faculty as well as the general community. Continuing Medical Education credit is available for physicians.

FLIP Sessions: As part of the Public Health Department’s ongoing effort to help train its postdoctoral fellows and residents, the FLIP (“Fellows Life in Progress”) sessions were initiated to provide a forum for fellows and residents to present ongoing or planned research projects and to discuss related educational topics. In addition to the fellows and residents, program directors and faculty who supervise them or are involved in their research projects attend the FLIP sessions, as well as other faculty who can provide expertise to help with the design and refinement of their studies.
