Weill Cornell Web Sites
Information Technologies & Services (ITS) builds and maintains the Weill Cornell Medical College website in collaboration with the Weill Cornell Physician Organization, RASP, Academic Affairs, and various other departments, divisions, and programs. ITS web services and its collaborators work closely together to apply best web practices through competitive benchmarking, annual third-party site evaluations, and the on-going application of new technologies that support institutional goals and objectives.
What Is Included - Basic Service
- Edits and additions to the WCMC website
- Standard Web Sites:
- Basic Weill Cornell design template
- Up to 10 Web pages
- Up to 2 stock art photographs
- A simple email-based contact form
- Web hosting on a pre-existing domain owned by WCMC
- Standard web traffic reports.
- Nightly backups of web site data.
- 5 hours of content updates and web support per site per fiscal year.
What Is Included - Enhanced Service
- Premiere Web Sites: Can be designed and developed to departmental specifications and may include features such as:
- Custom photography and slide shows
- Video production and post production
- Medical illustration and animation
- Customized design
- Interactive tools
- Internal search feature
- External search engine optimization
- Content development
- Custom domain name and hosting
- Example Premiere Web Sites:
- The New York Brain Tumor Center - required development activities include site planning, sitemap/architecture/content development, photography and video, design, coding/programming, testing, launch, hosting, and maintenance
- Web Maintenance: An annual subscription is required for standard web sites that need more than 5 hours of content updates, as well as all premiere web sites. Web maintenance includes 30 hours total per fiscal year for the following activities:
- Web content updates and additions
- Design or architectural changes
- Posting of links, PDF and Word files
- CMS, Adobe Contribute, and other web application support
Cost
- Limited edits and additions to WCMC website and Standard Web Sites are provided at no additional cost
- Premiere Web Sites costs are determined on a per project basis, based on a rate of $75 per hour. In FY07, premiere web site development costs ranged from $8,000 to $75,000
- Web maintenance costs are $1,800 per web site per fiscal year and includes 30 hours of labor. Support beyond the 30 hours is charged at $75 per hour
