Instant Messaging (WCMC Talk)
WCMC Talk is a service providing instant messaging (IM) between WCMC staff, faculty, and students. The service provides the same quick communication as traditional instant messaging networks, tailored specifically for the WCMC community. WCMC Talk allows users to quickly, easily, and securely communicate with each other, either in a one-to-one conversation or multi-user conference.
What Is Included - Basic Service
- IM software using the Jabber protocol
- Roster functionality such as adding/removing buddies
- Unlimited chatting with users at affiliated institutions including NewYork-Presbyterian and WCMC-Q.
- Ability to conduct group chats
- Transfer files between participants
- Offline messaging support, so that every message gets delivered even when you are not actively connected
- Privacy controls to prevent unwanted interruptions
What Is Included - Enhanced Service
Perpetual chat rooms can be created for departments or projects, with controlled access rights.
