3/28- SECURITY WARNING - PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY

Notification Regarding Phone Calls from ITS Support
Why Am I Receiving This Notification?
We have received reports of users who are being contacted by people identifying themselves as computer support technicians and asking for access to user computers, either by installing software or accessing websites outside of WCMC. As a reminder, only ITS support technicians are authorized to access user computers to service them.

How Can I Verify the Identity of an ITS Employee? In order to service our users, ITS uses a ticketing system with a trackable case number (e.g., Case #12345678). When an ITS employee contacts you to service your computer, they should always provide this case number. If they do not, you should request this information from them. If the case number is not provided, you should contact Support. When the case is completed, you should also receive an email confirming this.

What Do I Do If I Suspect Someone is Trying to Impersonate an ITS Employee? If you suspect that someone who is contacting you to service your computer is not an ITS employee, please hang up immediately and contact ITS Support at 212-746-4878 and report the incident.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this information, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 6-4878, or support@med.cornell.edu.
