SCHEDULED: Internet Explorer 8 Upgrade for all ITS-Supported Managed Windows Machines, 10/07

ITS Internet Explorer 8 Upgrade

Beginning Friday, October 7, ITS will be installing Internet Explorer 8.0 available on managed Windows ITS-tagged computers. The area primarily affected by this second phase of Internet Explorer 8.0 upgrades is the Weill Greenberg Center. Internet Explorer 8.0 will automatically be installed once the user logs off the computer when they leave for the day. Users of managed desktops also have the option to install Internet Explorer 8 on their machines from 'Run Advertised Programs' or ITS Downloads. Please be advised that if you choose to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.0, all open applications will be closed and your machine will be restarted to complete the upgrade. At this time, older versions of Internet Explorer will be overwritten and will no longer function.

ITS has tested all WCMC and NewYork-Presbyterian supported applications that require Internet Explorer and found them compatible with Internet Explorer 8. Tests were performed against the Weill Business Gateway (WBG), GE Centricity Business, myProfile, myCertificates, and Imagecast. This upgrade will not affect your current Internet Explorer settings (e.g. default home page), favorites or bookmarked pages. Student-owned devices will also not be affected by this upgrade.

If you currently use a web-based application that requires an older version of Internet Explorer or are unsure of the applications compatibility with Internet Explorer 8, please contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance.

If you have any questions or concerns about this upgrade, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
