<p><strong>What is happening?</strong></p>

<p>ITS is aware of reported problems with MAC users sending and receiving Exchange email via Outlook 2011, MacMail and Outlook Web Access (OWA) between 6:30 AM and 12:30 PM today. Microsoft Outlook on Windows computers and all mobile devices connected to our Exchange email were not affected. </p>

<p><strong>What do you need to do?</strong></p>

<p>The problem has been resolved, however, should you continue to have trouble with email please do the following:</p>

<p><strong>For MAC users ONLY:</strong></p>

<p>For Outlook Web Access (OWA) - Clear the cache on your browser see FAQ for instructions.<br />
For the Outlook desktop client and or MacMail - Please close the email client and reboot the computer.<br />

Weill Cornell's email service is compatible with many external email clients, such as Mozilla Thunderbird. ITS is currently optimizing WCMC's email service, which will affect your ability to send email with Thunderbird unless this change is made. (See details in the user guide listed below.)<br />

<strong>How will this affect you?</strong><br />
If you are currently using Thunderbird to access your WCMC email account, you will need to change your outgoing server, or SMTP, settings to ensure proper connection with the email system. Without changing these settings, you will no longer be able to send email from your Weill Cornell account when using Thunderbird.<br />

        <![CDATA[<p>ITS will renew its wireless certificates on <strong>Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.</strong> As a result, users may receive prompts asking them to authenticate a new network certificate when they connect to Weill Cornell's wireless network.  The certificate should be accepted in order for users to connect to the Internet wirelessly.<br />
 <br />
<strong>How will this affect you?</strong><br />
Anyone using an Apple device, including mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads, to connect to the College's wireless network will receive a series of prompts asking them to connect to the network "WMC Secure."<br />
 <br />
These prompts will only appear so you can accept the College's updated wireless certificate. Once you accept the certificate, you will not see these prompts when you connect to WCMC's wireless network.<br />
 <br />
Microsoft Windows users will not see any prompts and should be able to connect seamlessly to the wireless network.<br />
 <br />
<strong>What do you need to do?</strong><br />
After the renewal on April 25:<br />
 <br />
Apple users should follow this <a href="http://weill.cornell.edu/its/pdf/instructions/applecertupdate.pdf" target=new>user guide</a> to assist them in accepting the College's wireless certificate.<br />
<ul><br />
	<li>When you connect to the "WMC Secure" wireless network, a prompt will appear asking you to accept a certificate. You need to accept it in order to connect to the wireless network.</li><br />
	<li>After accepting the certificate, you will receive another prompt to input your device's account name (typically your CWID) and password to verify that you have accepted the new wireless certificate.</li><br />
</ul><br />
<em>Note: These prompts will vary depending on the Apple device you are using to connect.</em><br />
 <br />

<strong>How does this affect you?</strong><br />
<ul>	<li>You may experience issues accessing WCMC web-based applications (i.e. WBG, eIRB, library journal access, Myapps.med.cornell.edu, etc.)</li><br />
	<li>Websites such as Google, Yahoo! CNN, and others may not accessible or load very slowly</li><br />

<p><em>Note: Other applications that do not require Internet connectivity, like Microsoft Office, should not be affected. </em></p>
