Using Legacy Webmail

Enabling Popups In Firefox

The Firefox web browser has a built-in feature which automatically prevents "pop-up" windows generated by web pages from being displayed. The legacy version of webmail will attempt to create a pop-up window when the New Message button is clicked. This pop-up blocking feature must be customized to allow pop-up windows created by this site to be seen.

When Firefox blocks a new window from being displayed, it shows a warning at the top of the current window to this regard, as seen below:

To customize Firefox to always allow all pop-up windows created by "email.med.cornell.edu":

  1. Click the New Message button to initiate a pop-up window
  2. Click on the yellow warning banner at the top of the browser window to display options
  3. Select "Allow popups for email.med.cornell.edu"
  4. Click the New Message button once more to display the message composition window
