Email services for Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital are hosted and maintained by Information Technologies & Services (ITS). Each staff, faculty member, and student is provided with one email account if they have an ITS supported computer connected to the WCMC network. Each student is provided with one email account when they are enrolled in the Medical College. If the user does not have an ITS supported computer, there is a separate annual charge for email.
In addition to email, ITS also provides solutions for sending broadcast emails as well as filtering unwanted or potentially harmful email messages.
What Is Included
- Email attachments up to 75 megabytes in size are supported. To send larger attachments, please use the File Transfer service
- Email client software supported: Eudora, Thunderbird, and Outlook for Windows or Mac OS X
- Integration with non-supported email clients through IMAP, POP, and SMTP protocols
- Secure, encrypted connections to email service when at home or traveling through a web-based mail interface
- Nightly backups of email left on the server, retained for 14 days
- Deep spam filtering through Sophos' PureMessage ("Antispam")
Cost
- Provided at no additional charge for WCMC staff with supported ITS-tagged machines
- Annual charge of $100 for WCMC staff without ITS-supported machines
- Included in Student Technology Fee for WCMC students
