Supported Computers

An Information Technologies & Services (ITS)-supported computer will allow you to connect to the Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) network and access selected WCMC services. We highly recommend that users register ITS-approved desktop and laptop configurations. For laptops ITS-tagged and connected to the WCMC network, the ITS-managed encryption system must be installed. Please refer to the Laptop Encryption service page for more information.
Below are the following exceptions:

Laboratory desktops and laptops: ITS will register, tag and support non-standardized computers with installed ITS-supported operating systems that are specifically required for proprietary lab and medical equipment.

WCMC Student Computers: ITS will register, tag and support any computer hardware with installed ITS-supported operating systems.

Computers with Unsupported Operating System: ITS will register and tag computers with installed operating systems that are not supported by ITS. These computers will only receive support for network connectivity.

We also offer an enhanced option in addition to the standard computer configuration. The Managed Windows Desktop allows for standardized restricted configurations for departmental computers. With this configuration, data is centrally backed up and centrally managed application updates are "pushed" to the desktop. In addition, standardized desktops allow help desk response and troubleshooting diagnostics to be more efficient.
