  11. Hungary: The Medical University of Pécs

    The University of Pécs is the first university in Hungary (dating from 1367) and one of the major higher education institutes of the country with 10 faculties, 32 clinics and a winery research facility. Hungarian, English and German programs are used in education. In 1951 the Medical School became a separate, independent institution under the name of the Medical University of Pécs. The City of Pecs, the fifth largest city of Hungary, is located in the south-west of the country, close to its border with Croatia. Six-week clinical electives are available in all sub-specialties for fourth year students.

    This small hospital in rural, poor Orissa provides an enriching and fascinating experience for those interested in making a difference in people's lives. The facility includes a surgical unit, women's health care center, and pathology lab. The hospital serves over 1,000 patients every month.

  24. Uganda: Naggalama Hospital, a 100 bed facility located in an underdeveloped, underserved rural area 40km from Kampala.
    An opportunity to take an elective in rural Uganda is now available. The focus is on palliative care. Students will work with the palliative care team in the hospital as well as in the community.
