Weill Cornell Medicine is one of the leading medical schools in the field of international and global health.

The Office of International Medical Student Education (IMSE) oversees and coordinates the international educational programs for Weill Cornell Medicine. Weill Cornell medical students have the option to participate in a wide variety of both research and clinical electives around the globe. Visiting international students participate in a diverse range of clinical electives here at Weill Cornell. The IMSE Office also serves as the hub for robust international health-related curricular offerings and programming. The Office of International Medical Student Education (previously the Office of Global Health Education) is overseen by Medical Education and collaborates with the Office International Affairs and Affiliations.

Mission of the Office of International Medical Student Education:

The mission of IMSE is to deliver outstanding international education to Weill Cornell students and visiting international students. The Office provides information and personalized counseling about international elective opportunities (clinical, research, community health) and facilitates collaboration with Weill Cornell faculty mentors and sponsors in host countries. The IMSE Office will continue to explore and expand affiliations and exchanges with medical colleges around the world.  As part of its mission, IMSE views itself as a vehicle for capacity building with global partners and will continue to emphasize the importance and value of bidirectional exchange. Towards this effort, IMSE has formed formal agreements with medical colleges and service organizations around the world. The IMSE Office strives to continue to increase endowment funding such that any Weill Cornell medical student who wishes to take part in an international elective can do so. The overall goal of IMSE programming is to enable future physicians to develop a global perspective on medicine and healthcare delivery.
