Career Development Awards and Individual Honors
  • Dr. David P. Hajjar, (Biochem) the Frank H.T. Rhodes Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Biology and Genetics, professor of biochemistry, professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and dean of the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, has been named to one of the Fulbright Commission's premier senior scholarship programs-the Fulbright Specialist Program.
  • Dr. Charles Inturrisi (Pharm) was named to the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Advancing Pain Research.
  • Dr. Thomas J. Kelly, (Mol Bio) Director of the Sloan-Kettering Institute is the co-recipient of the 2010 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize from Columbia University. The award honors Dr. Kelly and his collaborator, Bruce W. Stillman of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, for their combined work to understand how genetic material replicates. Their research guides current study of how this process goes wrong when cancer occurs.
  • Dr. Carl Nathan, (IMP) Co-Chairman of the Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis PhD program at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) for his excellence in scientific research. Membership in the NAS is one of the highest honors given to a scientist in the United States.
  • Dr. Marcus Reidenberg (Pharm) was given the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics' Torald Sollmann Award.

  • Dr. Todd Evans (CDB) was appointed Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery.
  • Dr. Timothy Ryan (Biochemistry) was one of four scientists selected to receive the annual McKnight Technology Award in Neuroscience. Dr. Ryan also won this award in 2000 and is the first individual to win the award twice.
