Financial Support

Stipends and Tuition

Each Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGS) PhD student receives a generous annual stipend intended to support his/her basic living expenses; the stipend is $32,150 for academic year 2009-2010. Each student accepted to the PhD degree-granting programs is awarded a full tuition scholarship, which includes all tuition, fees and health insurance (approximately $27,000).

Medical Insurance

The Graduate School is dedicated to providing the finest medical care to students. All full-time students enrolled in one of the seven PhD degree-granting programs are covered by a comprehensive health plan. Health insurance coverage includes access to the Student Health Service, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital clinics and physician referrals. See Housing & Services for additional information about Student Health Services.

Computer Network Support

The Graduate School provides each student with either a wireless network connection obtained through Weill Cornell Information Technology Services (ITS), OR activation of a network connection in his/her apartment.

Travel Support

A PhD candidate who is the presenting author on a paper related to work the student has undertaken at WCGS is eligible to receive up to $800 annually to support travel and expenses associated with presenting the paper at a scientific conference.
