Thanks to Dr. Henri Ford

Ten days after the earthquake, an "angel" appeared at the GHESKIO Field Hospital - Dr. Henri Ford. Dr. Ford was born in Port-au-Prince, several blocks from where GHESKIO stands.  He was trained in surgery at The New York Presbyterian Hospital (Weill-Cornell) and is currently the Chief of Surgery at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital (Keck/USC).  He was invaluable during his several week stay as one who understood Haiti and served both as a skilled surgeon and as a bridge between the United States and Haitian medical teams.

Dr. Henri Ford (seated), Chief of Surgery, Children's Hospital (LA) and Vice Dean at the Keck School of Medicine (USC). Dr. Ford, working with the Health and Human Services field hospital at GHESKIO, describes the rescue and injuries of a 31 year old Haitian man rescued after 14 days buried under rubble. Also pictured, Dr. Peter Wright (left), Dr. Marie-Marcelle Deschamps, and a volunteer.
