The mission of the Genitourinary Oncology Program is to provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to the management of genitourinary malignancies. Dedicated to groundbreaking Urologic oncology research, our Cancer Centers have made remarkable developments in the understanding and management of prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers. These advances have been translated into state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment approaches. Specialists in the fields of urology, medical oncology, pathology, radiology, and radiation oncology collaborate jointly in a myriad of processes. These include conducting clinical trials for all stages of genitourinary cancers and pursuing studies aimed at developing new preventive, early screening, and therapeutic modalities. By combining world-class research, sophisticated diagnostics, outstanding teamwork, and the newest treatment options, patients receive the highest level of care for these cancers.

Achievements

  • Among the first to establish anatomical basis for "nerve-sparing" procedures for bladder and prostate tumors
  • Successfully implement the prostate vaporization (green light/KTP) laser prostatectomy procedures
  • SPARC (suprapubic insertion of arced needles) procedure for treating Urinary Stress Incontinence developed by one of our physicians
  • Breakthrough in Prostate Cancer research by developing 1st series of mAbs to extracellular domain of prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA)
