Student Overseer Election

Welcome to the Student Overseer Election! The online ballot will be open from 8:00 pm on April 3rd until 11:59 pm on April 8th . Along with the ballot, you will find statements by all of the candidates describing the candidates’ goals as Student Overseer. Please find below a description of the Student Overseer Position and characteristics of a successful Student Overseer.

What is the Student Overseer position?

The Student Overseer is the student body representative on the Weill Cornell Board of Overseers. The Student Overseer is given full voting privileges as a member of the Board of Overseers, the ultimate governing body of Weill Cornell. At each full Board of Overseers meeting, the Student Overseer has the privilege of giving a 5-minute presentation to present student concerns and achievements, a privilege not given to every Board member. In addition, the Student Overseer works with other student leaders on campus and participates in MSEC and GSEC as an ex offiicio member.

What characteristics make a successful Student Overseer?

Committed – The Student Overseer should be committed to improving student life, academics, and other general programs at Weill Cornell. He/she should also be able to commit a significant amount of time for the position.

Openness – The Student Overseer should be accessible to all students around campus in person and via email.

Innovative - The Student Overseer should be innovative in developing and promoting his/her own initiatives.
