COMPLETION OPTION
The Physician Assistant Program is pleased to offer the MSHS PA Completion Option for selected cohorts of Weill Cornell PA Program alumni, to fulfill the requirements of the Master of Science in Health Sciences degree currently offered by the Program.
Students are eligible to enroll in the MSHS PA Completion Option if they:
- began the Weill Cornell PA Program in 2000 or later
- currently hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree
- are currently certified as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA
- are currently credentialed (registered or licensed) as a Physician Assistant in at least one state
- successfully completed Research Methods 1 and 2 as the courses were offered after 2000
The MSHS PA Completion Option will be accomplished by enrolling in a four-credit course, PAS 8001: Advanced Research Methodology Seminar. Passing all components of PAS 8001 will satisfy the remaining MSHS degree requirements for eligible students. Fifteen (15) students per cohort will be admitted to PAS 8001.
Please note the following requirements for the May 2013 class of the Completion Option program (subject to change):
- The course will begin in April 2012, and will conclude in March 2013 after completing all course requirements and upon submission of a properly formatted thesis for binding.
- To satisfy the residency requirements for the Completion Option, students are required to be present on campus for an individually arranged thesis defense in February 2013. Students will also be encouraged to return to participate in the May 2013 commencement activities.
- Students are required to maintain Internet access, WCMC WebVPN access, and an active WCMC email account for the entire course to aid in the submission of monthly assignments in this web-assisted course.
- Estimated tuition and fees for the Completion Option are as follows:

Applicants must electronically submit the following to MSHSPACO@med.cornell.edu:
- a copy of the completed application, and learning agreement (see link above),
- a scanned PDF of a valid NCCPA certificate, and
- a scanned PDF version of a current, valid, state PA credential.
The deadline is 5:00 PM EST on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
IMPORTANT: A class of fifteen (15) students will be chosen at random from all eligible students who submit all the items listed above before the deadline. We anticipate offering a new cycle of the Completion Option every six months; however, the application process will begin anew for each cycle
