On Tuesday June 14th, 2011 the Office of Faculty Diversity, held the Inaugural

Pioneers In Diversity Awards Ceremony  with Keynote Address by Dr. Alvin Poussaint, Professor of Psychiatry and Faculty Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Harvard Medical School, and a graduate of WCMC

These Awards will be presented annually. The Pioneers In Diversity awards include:

  1. The Ida Sophia Scudder, M.D. Award for Excellence in Public Service awarded to a student
  2. The Louis Wade Sullivan, M.D. Award for Excellence in Public Health Advocacy awarded to a resident or postdoctoral fellow
  3. The Bruce Laine Ballard, M.D. Award for Excellence in Mentorship awarded to a faculty member

SPARC Conference

   SPARC presented it's 1st Annual Conference for 2011

 

 

Focus:

As the diversity of the US increases, so does the requirement for researchers who are able to tackle the complex diseases and health care needs of this changing population.

SPARC will provide faculty and trainees, especially those who are members of groups that traditionally have been underrepresented in academic research, with information and skills for developing and advancing their research careers.
