Despite torrential rains, more than 400 alumni returned to the Medical College on Oct. 10-12, 2002, to celebrate the biennial alumni reunion. The theme, "Celebrating New York," was chosen in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, and to celebrate the strength of the city and all the people who are, and have been, a part of its history.
The Payne Whitney Faculty Council, the Payne Whitney Alumni Association and the Department of Psychiatry hosted a gala dinner and dance in June to honor two distinguished members of their faculty, Dr. Arnold Cooper and Dr. Robert Michels.
Dr. William Ledger, chairman emeritus and professor of obstetrics and gynecology, was recently honored by his colleagues and friends on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Dr. Farrington Daniels, professor emeritus of medicine and of public health, died on Nov. 12. He was 84.
