Burn Center, Busiest in the Nation, Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The Burn Center at NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center, the busiest burn center in the nation, marked its 25th anniversary with a scientific symposium and dinner celebration held on Sept. 17.
 
At Dean's Council Dinner, Members Hear About Uses of Genetic Medicine to Combat Bioterrorism
Dr. Antonio Gotto, dean of the Medical College, and Kevin Brine, campaign chairman for "Advancing the Clinical Mission," hosted a dinner on Sept. 17 for the recently formed Weill Cornell Dean's Council. Fifty guests and supporters gathered at the Griffis Faculty Club to hear a presentation by Dr. Ronald Crystal, chairman of the Department of Genetic Medicine, on the groundbreaking work he and his team are doing in combatting bioterrorism through the development of vaccines using gene-therapy techniques.
 
New Initiatives in Cardiac Care Discussed at NewYork Weill Cornell Council Meeting
More than 90 members of the NewYork Weill Cornell Council and their guests met on Sept. 26 at the Griffis Faculty Club, to hear about new initiatives in cardiac care.
 
Department of Surgery Hosts Golf & Tennis Benefit
The Department of Surgery hosted its first annual Golf & Tennis Tournament to benefit the department's surgical education and research programs on Oct. 1, at the Pelham Country Club in Pelham Manor, N.Y. More than 50 people participated in the inaugural event, which included golfing on a well-kept course, tennis and a five-star dinner.
