Research Participant Recruitment

The CTSC strives to break down barriers in all phases of the research process. Research subject recruitment presents significant challenges to research, especially for those studies dealing with rare diseases or very specific sub-populations of potential participants. Two complementary approaches are currently in-place to enhance connections between researchers and potential research participant volunteers. The first is National Volunteer Registry, a national not-for-profit research participant registry project that matches individuals interested in participating in research projects with researchers looking for participants. The second approach utilizes clinical systems through the use of EMR-based alerts to inform clinicians about patients meeting criteria for a study at the point of care.
