Health Information Technology Collaborative (HITEC)

CHiP members and affiliates are part of HITEC a consortium of academic institutions in New York State, dedicated to understanding the value of health information technology (health IT) and health information exchange (HIE). HITEC is comprised of four academic institutions: Weill Cornell Medical College at Cornell University, Columbia University, University of Rochester, and the State University of New York at Albany. It also includes faculty collaborators at the University at Buffalo.

Led by Weill Cornell Medical College's Dr. Rainu Kaushal, a national expert in evaluating health IT initiatives, HITEC is the only academic consortium of its type in New York and perhaps the country focused solely on cross-cutting health IT and HIE evaluations. HITEC works collaboratively with 20 HEAL grantees to identify and conduct timely evaluations of their interoperable health IT initiatives.
