Class of 2012 Legacy Gift Campaign

Dear Graduating Students,

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation from Weill Cornell! Soon you will trade in your student lab coats for a cap and gown and will receive your M.D. at Carnegie Hall. Your hard work and dedication over the past four years has certainly paid off. Once again, kudos!

As you now know, a tradition of graduating students is to establish a Class Scholarship to benefit future medical students. By establishing this endowed fund, the Class of 2012 will join 74 other Weill Cornell classes who also support class scholarships each year.

Today, I ask for your participation in this initiative. I hope you will make a gift to the Class of 2012 Legacy Gift Campaign to establish a Class Scholarship on the occasion of your graduation from Weill Cornell.

I suggest a symbolic gift of $20.12 to acknowledge the year of your graduation. This amount is equal to an NYC pizza and a Coke. By foregoing this indulgence one night this week, you can make an inaugural gift to the Class of 2012 Scholarship Fund and found a class legacy at the institution that gave you your M.D. By making a gift of $20.12, you will also become a member of the Young Alumni Circle, which was launched in 2011 to recognize the loyalty and generosity of our most recent graduates.

Making a gift is simple; it will only take a few minutes. Just click on: Donate Now to make your gift online. Alternatively, you can complete the WCMC Gift Reply Form and return it with your check or credit card by mail. If you have any questions about making a gift, please contact Clara Cullen in the Office of Alumni Relations at 646-317-7419 or clc2016@med.cornell.edu. She would be happy to assist you.

Please make your gift by Wednesday, May 23 as the Class of 2012 will be presenting Dean Glimcher with a big mock check at Convocation and it will take a few days to get the check printed.

Finally, in the spirit of friendly competition, we would like to mention that the Class of 2011 raised $1,301 from 48 graduating students. While that's an excellent result, I am confident that the amazing Class of 2012 will surpass these numbers, raising the bar even higher for next year’s class!

We look forward to your involvement and we hope you will continue to stay in touch with your alma mater. Thank you so much for your support and leadership.

With best regards,
Michael M. Alexiades, M.D. ’83
President, Weill Cornell Medical College Alumni Association
